Discover Jovis: The Character at the Core

Monsterwood started with the central character, Jovis. He was the first character that came to creator Jason Rosen one day a long time ago. Jason Rosen’s first born son had just come into the world, and as a new father, he had a lot of questions!. These seem to be eternal questions that seem to speak to the human experience. The challenge being finding the answer, in fiction and reality.

Raised in the Slums, Guided by Community

Jovis is no different. He is a young man who has grown up with his own unique challenges and struggles. When the story begins, he is at the age where he just wants to focus on himself and his agenda, which is basically to be a young person and do whatever springs to mind. He was raised right by his Mahru grandmother and taught the importance of community and the collective responsibility that comes along with being apart of a community. Especially in times of trouble and chaos.

The Deeper Questions of Heroism

What role or responsibility do we have stepping into the role of hero? Is it possible that the singular hero of old still fits the communal need for unity? Or is there something greater to be realized, where the true act of heroism is not just vanquishing evil, but healing a nation after the battle has been won.

Jovis has grown over the years, in look and in age. He is now at the place where he will have to answer these questions for himself and for the citizens of Magog at large.
